Early in the morning drive to the Kakheti region, which is famous for its wines. First will visit Telavi, the center of Kakheti region, where we will visit the Palace of the King Erekle II. Built by King Archil in 1667-1675, it was the residence of Kakhetian kings during the 17th and 18th centuries. Afterwards drive to Tsinandali and visit the house museum of Prince Aleksandre Chavchavadze, with beautiful garden and wine cellar. Alexander Chavchavadze inherited this village, located on Alazany River valley, from his father, Prince Garsevan. He renovated the estate, constructed a new Palace and built a decorative garden in 1835. It was the place where Chavchavadze frequently hosted his guests suggesting the fine vintages made at his estate winery (marani). Familiar with European ways, Chavchavadze built Georgia’s oldest and largest winery where he combined European and centuries-long Georgian winemaking traditions. The highly regarded dry white Tsinandali is still produced there. We will continue our trip to Sighnaghi, called as city of love. In the evening return back to Tbilisi at the hotel.
